Sentence Building Exercise 1


The sentence building exercise enables the students to frame sentences in different varieties, style and structure. It shows the students how to form from simple sentence and changing them to compound and complex sentences using adjectives, adverbs, phrases and different clauses.
Here is an example:
John laughed.( Two words)
Now change into three words as:
John laughed yesterday.
Change into four words as:
John laughed yesterday morning.
Change into five as:
John, my brother, laughed yesterday.
change into six as:
John, my brother, laughed yesterday morning.
change into seven as:
John, who is my brother, laughed yesterday.
change into eight as:
John, who is my brother, laughed yesterday morning.
change into nine words as:
John, who is my younger brother, laughed yesterday morning.
change into ten words as:
John, who is my younger brother, laughed loudly yesterday morning.
change into eleven words as:
John, who is my younger brother, laughed loudly yesterday morning 6 0’clock.
change into twleve as words as:
John, my brother, laughed yesterday morning because he heard a nice joke.
change into thirteen words as:
John, my younger brother, laughed yesterday morning because he heard a nice joke.
change into fourteen words as:
John, who is my brother, laughed yesterday morning because he heard a nice joke.


Like these you need to build up sentences up to 25 words and by this time the student might have used all sentence types, simple, compound and complex.
