Fixation

Try something new and see if it works….

There was a village maths teacher named Subhash who taught in the same school throughout his life. He was a very popular man. He used to sit at a nearby teashop for lunch everyday. He sat on the same chair and ate the same vegetable sandwich and tea daily—no matter what was on the menu. The shop owner one day casually asked him, “I see you’re having a vegetable sandwich and tea everyday for years. You must be really fond of vegetable sandwiches!”

“Not exactly, “ replied Subash

Then the shop owner asked, “you’re on a budget, right? Pretty cheap lunch.”

“Not at all, Samosa is cheaper” replied Subash.

So, why do you order a vegetable sandwich every single day of your life?” The shop owner asked.

Subash placed his sandwich gently on his plate, glanced down at the floor and then said, “because that’s what I’ve always ordered. It is easy, I don’t have to look at the menu and my stomach has no complains about it too.”

We all live our lives in comfort zones, avoiding risky situations, avoiding the potential to failure. It’s real safe for us. But in order to get ahead, we have got to get out of our comfort zones. Try something new and see if it works. It may, it may not, but we’ll never know if we don’t try. People who are fixed on the external world cannot enter the internal self and visa versa. God is not fixed.  He is all pervasive and omniscient but we fix him to religions.  Dynamism is distorted and  no transformation is possible in such people’s lives.
