Develop Faith in God day-by-day…………..

As faith increases, all the wickedness will perish

Once a high priest in Jerusalem called Jesus and asked him” “Are you King of the Jews?” Jesus replied: “I do not say so,” The priest told Jesus: You are leading the people astray by your wrong teachings. You are telling them that everyone can enter heaven only through you.”

Jesus said that he had been telling the people to seek the kingdom of heaven. The priest asked: “Where is that kingdom? Jesus replied: “The  kingdom of heaven is within you, within everybody. When this is my teaching, how can I be accused of claiming that the Kingdom of heaven can be attained only through me?” How did Jesus get the courage to speak in this fashion? It was because he was proclaiming the truth. Truth is born of love, which comes from faith in God. Jesus dedicated his life to the propagation of faith in one God who is common to all mankind.
Where there is faith, there is love,
Where there is love, there is peace,
Where there is peace, there is truth,
Where there is truth, there is bliss,
Where there is bliss, there is God….

The very first need is faith in God and in your own Divine nature. Without faith in God, all scholarship, wealth or name and fame are of no avail. Hence, develop faith in God day-by-day and lead a God-directed life. As faith increases, all the wickedness will perish

–Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Why do you want salvation, to be happy!
Why do you want heaven, to be happy!
Why do you want eternal life, to be happy!
Why do you want God, to be happy!
Happiness is just another word for holiness and God!
Happiness which is holiness.
happiness which is God.
What do you want more than anything in the whole world?

Happy are those who reject the advice of evil men, who do no follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God. Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord, and they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do. But evil men are not like this at all; they are like straw that the wind blows away. Sinners will be condemned by God and kept apart from God’s own people. The righteous are guided and protected by the Lord, but the evil are on the way to their doom. (Psalms 1:1).

A Successful Marriage………….

Better to live on the roof than share the house with a nagging wife (Proverb 21:9).

A man who had a troubled marriage was pleasantly surprised when he returned home from work on his birthday and was presented with two neck-ties by his wife. He was overjoyed and decided to take her out to dinner. As he got dressed he wondered which of the ties to wear for both were elegant-looking. He finally chose one.

As he turned to his wife, she stared at his neck and said in disgust “So you didn’t like the other one!”

The great secret of successful marriage is to treat all disasters

as incidents and none of the incidents as disasters–Harold Nicolson

Five Finger Prayer

This is so neat.  I had never heard this before.  This is beautiful – and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives!

1. Your thumb is nearest you.  So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you.  They are the easiest to remember.  To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a “sweet duty”.

2. The next finger is the pointing finger.  Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal.  This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers.  They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction.  Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger.  It reminds us of our leaders…  Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators.  These people shape our nation and guide public opinion.  They need God’s guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger.  Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify.  It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain…  They need your prayers day and night.  You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger – the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others.  As the Bible says, “The least shall be the greatest among you”.  Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself.  By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

If you decide to send this to a friend, you might brighten someone’s day!  Pass this on to someone special…  I did.

Remember the Good………………

How precious, O God, is your constant love!

We need to do something. Take time to remember your victories, and celebrate what God has done in your life. Put out some memorial stones. This is one of the best ways to build your faith and keep yourself encouraged. Remember the time that God made a way for you when it looked as if there was no way. Remember when you were so lonely, and God brought somebody special into your life. Recall how God has healed you or someone you know; think of how He protected you in the storm, guided you, blessed you. If you will get this awareness of God’s goodness down on the inside, you won’t go around thinking, ” Well, I wonder if I’ll ever get out of this mess? I wounder if God is ever going to work in my life.  No, you’ll be saying, “I know if God did it for me once, He’ll do it for me again!”

It would do you good to review God’s goodness to you on a regular basis-simply thinking about the major victories in your life, the unexpected successes, or the time when you knew that God intervened in your circumstances. Remember the day your children were born. Remember how God gave you that job.  Thank God for your spouse and your family. Remember what God has done for you.

–Joel Osteen

Lord your constant love reaches the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the skies.

Your righteousness is towering like the mountains; your justice is like the depths of the sea.

Men and animals are in your care. How precious, O God, is your constant love! (Psalms 36:5)

We have sinned against you…………………

Why have you hurt us so badly that we cannot be healed?

We looked for peace, but nothing good happened; we hoped for healing, but terror came instead.

We have sinned against you, Lord; we confess our own sins and the sins of our ancestors. (Jeremiah 14:19).

Two parishioners were chatting on the front steps of the church after a Mass where the homilist pointed out some of the evils in the world.

Said the first person, “You know, sometimes I feel like asking God why He allows so much poverty, hunger and injustice. Surely He could do something about it.”

Second person: “Well, why don’t you ask Him?”

First person: “Because I’m afraid God might ask me the same question.

Some were fools, suffering because of their sins and because of their evil; they couldn’t stand the sight of food and were close to death. Then in their trouble they called to the Lord, and he saved them from their distress. He healed them with his command saved them from the grave. They must thank the Lord for his constant love, for the wonderful things he did for them. They must thank him with sacrifices, and with songs of joy must tell all that he has done. (Psalms 107: 17).

Tips for Good Living………..

** Know what you are talking about before you speak. Avoid idle talk, and you will avoid a lot of trouble.

** Never repeat what you hear, and you will have no regrets. Don’t tell it to your friends or your enemies unless it would be sinful to keep it to yourself.  Whoever hears you will take note of it, and sooner or later will hate you for it.

** If you hear that a friend has done something wrong, ask him about it. Maybe it isn’t true. If it is true he won’t  do it again.

* Examine your conscience before the Lord judges you; then when that time comes, he will forgive you.

** Humble yourself before you are punished with sickness.

** When you have sinned, show repentance.

** If you make a promise to the Lord, keep it as soon as you can. Don’t wait until you are about to die to set things straight. But before you make such a promise, be prepared to keep it.

** When  you have all you want, think what it is like to be hungry, what it is to be poor. Things can change in a single day; The Lord can act very quickly.

** If you are wise, you will be careful in everything you do.

** Don’t be controlled by your lust; keep your passions in check. If you allow yourself to satisfy your every desire, you will be a joke to your enemies. Don’t indulge in luxurious living; the expense of it will ruin you. Don’t make yourself a beggar by borrowing for expensive banquets when you haven’t enough money of your own. If you do, you will never get rich; if you don’t pay attention to small matters, you will gradually ruin yourself.

I am proud of my Father…….

It is not what happens to us that hurts us. It is our response that hurts us.”

On the first day, as President Abraham Lincoln entered to give his Inaugural Address, just in the middle, one man stood up. He was a rich aristocrat . He said, “Mr. Lincoln, you should not forget that your father used to make shoes for my family .” And the whole Senate laughed; they thought they had made a fool of Abraham Lincoln. But Lincoln and that type of people are made of a totally different mettle. Lincoln looked at the man and said, ” Sir I know that my father used to make shoes in your house for your family, and there will be many others here…. Because the way he made shoes; nobody else can. He was a creator . His shoes were not just shoes; he poured his whole soul in it. I want to ask you, have you any complaint? Because I know how to make shoes myself. If you have any complaint I can make another pair of shoes . But as far as I know, nobody has ever complained about my father’s shoes. He was a genius, a great creator and I am proud of my father”. The whole Senate was struck dumb. They could not understand what kind of man Abraham Lincoln was. He was proud because his father did the job so well that not even a single complaint had ever been heard.

Are you proud or embarrassed of your dad and what he used to do for a living? “No one can hurt you without your consent.”

If you want to stay out of trouble, be careful what you say

(The Bible, Proverb 21:23).
